Ultrasound

Mobile Ultrasound

Unlike X-Rays, Ultrasound imaging uses a transducer or more commonly called a probe to generate sound waves to produce pictures of the body’s internal structures. As it does not use any radiations, it has no known harmful effects on the human body. It is a source of clear imaging of soft tissues which does not appear well on x-ray images. Mostly, infections, swelling, and unexplained pains are diagnosed through Ultrasound. Apart from other purposes, it is also the preferred method of imaging for the monitoring of unborn children in women’s womb.

ECG

Electrocardiogram

ECG is a common and painless test to detect heart problems and monitor its health by recording electrical signals of your heart.

Electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs) can be done anywhere i.e at the doctor’s office, any clinic, or in a hospital room. These standard ECG machines are often installed in ambulances, nearby patients’ bed in hospitals or stand by with medics for use on call.

ECG is done for:

Doctors utilize this test to detect or determine many common heart problems. This test is a noninvasive and painless way to diagnose heart issues. ECG is done for the following reasons:

  • If you have had a previous heart attack
  • If you have chest pain or symptoms of a heart attack.
  • If you already have a history of blocked or narrowed arteries in your heart (coronary artery disease). Abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmias)
  • To observe how well a heart disease treatment, such as a pacemaker, is working

Your physician might suggest an ECG if you have any of the following signs and symptoms:

  • Chest pain
  • Rapid pulse
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness or confusion
  • Weakness, fatigue or a decline in the ability to exercise
  • Heart palpitations

For variable symptoms, your physician may suggest you remote or continuous ECG monitoring as in a one-time test your real condition would not be captured. There are several different types of remote monitoring equipment for this purpose. Holter monitor and Event monitor are examples.

EEG

To test and detect the electrical activity in your brain using small metal discs (electrodes) attached to your scalp, an electroencephalogram (EEG) is carried out. Through this test, the communication of your brain cells is observed via electrical impulses which remain active even if you are sleeping. EEG records this activity as wavy lines.

EEG plays an important role in diagnosing multiple brain disorders specifically it is recommended for the test of epilepsy. EEG would also be recommended for diagnosing/treating these disorders:

  • Brain tumor
  • Brain damage from a head injury
  • Stroke
  • Inflammation of the brain (encephalitis)
  • Brain dysfunction that can have a variety of causes (encephalopathy)
  • Sleep disorders

EEG is used to help find the right level of anesthesia for someone in a medically induced coma. An EEG might also be used to confirm brain death in someone in a persistent coma.
